At the October 5th City Council Meeting, Lynn Stanley from Casey Family Services addressed the Mayor and Council regarding the Twin Rivers Work Camp to be held July 5th through the 9th of 2010. The work is made up of Teen and adult leaders from across the country that will spend one week in the Franklin area performing hands-on home repair projects for residents who cannot do the work themselves because of income, age, and/or disability. Both the labor and materials will be free to qualifying households. If you or you know someone who could use some help doing home repair projects, please get an application. - I moved to Franklin six years ago with my son who attends Franklin High School. Originally, I developed this blog for an election campaign to attain a City Council seat in Ward 3. During that unsuccessful campaign, I learned how difficult it was for the average citizen to get information about city issues and how our governing body thought about those issues. Let’s face it, not all of us have the time to attend Council meetings, search the user UN-friendly City website or scour newspapers for tiny tidbits of Franklin News. However, it is important that each of us make a concerted effort to be informed of the challenges our City faces. This blog does allow you to post comments and I encourage you to do so, but please be respectful of our leaders and fellow citizens. You see, a city is only as great as its citizens and if we don’t make ourselves heard. Then we are NOT heard at all. This blog will help your voice be heard by those who represent us.
